Providing bespoke care nationwide for clients with spinal injuries and neurological conditions
Maureen Harriott, Clinical Nurse Specialist, and I attended a moving and handling update last week.
The day gave us opportunities to meet other attendees from differing work areas, gain an update/review of legislation, and share experiences of challenges for our clients,
patients or service users.
In addition, relooking at cost saving in relation to equipment and strategies to try to overcome difficulties/problem solving
There was also discussion and information on new and/or improved equipment, some of which are mentioned below
· ‘Fish legs’ for assisting with putting on trousers – like the slide mitts but longer
· Accora Floorbed (see picture one in comments) comes in Floorbed 1 and Floorbed 2 dependent on assisting persons height
· Ekamore turning bed
In addition, we were able to practice getting someone from wheelchair to floor in the event of emergency requirement, using slide sheets and 2 pillows for buffering
It was a very informative day
