Full Time Support Worker/Carer Required in Truro

We have an opportunity for Support Workers / Carers to join a specialist care team. You will be assisting a young gentleman who has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and is living in his own home in the Truro area. This condition causes physical impairment only.

The Role:

  • The role will include assistance with personal care, food preparation, domestic duties and all aspects of daily living.
  • You will be helping the gentleman to live the most independent life possible which will include supporting him in attendance at his voluntary employment; along with social activities and trips away.

About You:

  • The right candidates will be enthusiastic, outgoing with a good sense of humour, able to cook, reliable, trustworthy and committed.
  • A full, clean, driving license is essential and you must be prepared to drive the gentleman’s own automatic wheelchair accessible vehicle.
  • You must be willing to accompany the gentleman on trips in the UK and abroad for up to a week. A valid passport is required for this purpose
  • Previous experience of working in care would be advantageous but is not essential. Full specialist training will be provided
  • Please be aware that this is a non-smoking environment

Shift Patterns:

  • 12 hour Day Shifts (0900-2100) and 12 hour Waking Night Shifts (2100-0900)
  • You will be working within a team providing care and support all year round on a rota basis, including weekends and bank holidays.
  • Flexibility is required in being able to work both day shifts and waking night shifts
